A wallet full of wonder

Last Saturday I went into a thrift store nosing around for older video games.

I came up short. There was nothing there.

I talked briefly to a sales clerk there and he did say they had a bunch of Sega games.

He proceeded to reach into the glass display and take out an unassuming CD wallet. There was no sign or anything to show that anything was even it in.

It was full of Sega Saturn Games.

Not in the best shape but all of them are playable.

Here are some of the highlights included:

Shining Wisdom
Virtua Fighter 1
Fighters Megamix
NiGHTS
Panzer Dragoon 1
Panzer Dragoon 2
Mortal Kombat 2
Herc's Adventure

And the best

Guardian Heros!!!

G. H. was the the best pick of this lot! Side scrolling at it's best! It's too bad this great game is going for like $100.00-$150.00 on ebay, it's a fun game.

And I FINALLY have a working copy of Panzer Dragoon 2!!!!

Sweet! There were alot more too! All these were mine for $20!!!!!!!

It pays to ask the store clerk in a thrift shop if they have any older video games.

  2. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you are blessed Caleb, my American brother! That's an awesome haul for $20! Guardian Heroes looks fantastic, but I'm most jealous of Panzer Dragoon 2!

I'm sure I once had it, but like quite a few games it's now lost :(

Now how about one of those splendid video reviews you do on the DCJY, but with a Saturn theme... :)

  3. OMFG! You lucky, lucky you! :)

So many good games for just 20 bucks is every Saturn fan's wet dream.

BTW, video reviews of Saturn games would be nice.

  4. :O Thats amazing!!! I wish I could find deals like that, my local gamecrazy used to carry almost all game systems and games except the saturn for some odd reason. Now, it only carries the new games though...

  5. *"What's a thrift shop?"*

"retail establishment operated by a charitable organization for the purpose of fundraising" -wikipedia

These places sell second hand goods that are donated by the general public.

The people that donate stuff get a tax write off.

The thrift shop gets to sell all kinds of stuff at a low price since they pay nothing for it and use the money for mostly charity stuff like feeding the poor.

For example when Katrina hit the Salvation army served 5.7 million hot meals to people without power or gas.

So when I shop at these place I am also partially giving to charity as well as getting hard to find old electronics.

    So pretty much everyone wins.

There are many different kinds of shops like these all around the US. Some people like to buy used stuff because it's recycling.

  6. I've just looked back at this list and let's think about it!

    Virtua Fighter 1
    Fighters Megamix
    NiGHTS
    Panzer Dragoon 1
    Panzer Dragoon 2

Jayzus! That's like a premium sampler of the Saturn's best!

Segata is smiling on you Caleb! Apart from Sega Rally you've got every premium game that the console ever produced! Damn! You're on fire! :)

  8. I forgot to mention another one that was in there:

    X-men Children of the Atom.

  9. Next time you're gonna say "Oh, I forgot, there was also Panzer Dragoon Saga and Radiant Silvergun in there..."

    xD

  10. X-men was actually stuck behind another game in the wallet.

So that was an honest mistake.

No Radiant Silvergun or even Shining Force 3...that would have to cool for words.

  18. NICE... i've heard of someone finding a NEO GEO at a thrift shop in st.louis...

There are some rare gems hiding in a bin in a thrift shop.

I found a few saturns there from time to time but no good games like GH.
