The folks over at NiGHTSintoDreams.com have scored
a pretty awesome interview with Yuji Naka. It's a cool read, with a majority of the discussion focusing on the Saturn classic rather than the Wii unclassic. I won't spoil too much, but Steven Spielberg and that rumored NiGHTS Saturn controller are brought up.
Check out the interview!
During the interview, Naka brings up a PC version of NiGHTS that was released in 2003. That was news to the interviewer and it is news to me as well!
Check out the Japanese site detailing the 2003 premiere.
That was a great interview. Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteNice find!
ReplyDeleteOh, nice find! A very nice read and... what's that... on that Game Watch page: http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/20030321/sega06.htm A Sega towel? Some Sega Saturn stuff as well? I NEED! :(
ReplyDelete@elend
ReplyDeleteI saw those too! Very cool, I wonder if those are console patterned bandannas. I remember seeing some on ebay a few years back.
Oh, I found more infos in this thread: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25769
ReplyDeleteIt's indeed a pack of Sega Towels (Sega Logo, Saturn, Mega Drive and Dreamcast Towel). Only available from Sega Direct back then. Awesome.
I want to towels and a download of nights for PC! lol
ReplyDeleteThere may be some translation issues going on there...
ReplyDeleteIn 2003, Sega repackaged the emulator GiriGiri as B-Club, their digital download service for classic Saturn (and prior) games.
The version released in 2003 was just an emulated version from the Saturn.
It's possible some PC work was copied over (interface elements, etc), it's hard to piece together B-Club due to the language barrier. It's even more disappointing that Sega wouldn't offer a classic games service worldwide...
So, in short, you didn't miss out on some mystical super-HD version of NiGHTS...
