A gift from the heavens

There I was, coming back home after a hard day at college (ok, I only had a two hour class, English, but it was still a pain to get up early and drive all the way to Aveiro and back...), when I notice something in front of my door. Nothing less than a big-ass package with my address written all over it (literally, it was written with a marker in giant letters). This could only be one thing: a package from our own dear Simon Early, known in teh interwebs as Father Krishna! Oh boy, was I excited about opening it up! :D


I didn't really know what to expect, although I always thought it would be only one thing. Was I in for a surprise... there was not just one thing inside, nor two, but four!!! Four gifts for me!!! :O



There was a black Dreamcast VMU, which may be something ordinary for most Dreamcast fans, but for me it's a life saver, since I (laugh all you want) only had one! Imagine my pain everytime I had to delete a saved game to make space for another... Now that wont happen again so soon!

Also for the Dreamcast there was a game, but not just any game. We're talking about the revolutionary Seaman! Oddly enough there was no actual game in there, don't know it that was the point or not, but anyway, the game I can easily download and burn. The case and manual on the other hand are more difficult to come up with.

Now, for the Saturn, there were two Japanese treats in there. One was that little hidden gem called Burning Rangers, which I've never played before, despite J saying such good things about it. There final, and most awesome of gifts, was...

A sealed Japanese copy of Christmas NiGHTS!!! OMFG!!! O_O That's, like, the dream of every Saturn fan to have something like that! OMG! I don't know what to say, Father, thank you so much for everything! You're the man! :D

Snipped by 50p!

Hi folks! In a recent Saturn shocker, I've just found out that my recent bid for official Sega Saturn Magazine issue 26, with a free demo disc of Christmas Nights has been beaten by a measly 50p! I had made a top bid of £5.00, and then gone off for the weekend, full of hope!

However, on my return home I checked my eBay account, only to cry bitter tears as I discovered that some bastard had bid £5.50 and won!!! BAH!

Still, on a positive note, I did manage to secure issue 15 with free demo CD called 'Sega Flash' (Vol3) I think... For the princely sum of £2.39 no less! So all is not lost...

BTW, as there isn't much to this post,I thought I'd include a real picture of the Good Father, so you can finally put a human face to the patron of this particular blog... You've seen Caleb, NebachadnezzaR and now old FK... Here I am last Saturday in one of the arcades at my caravan site in Wales, posing ridiculously in the cab of my all time favourite driving game and Saturn stalwart, Sega Rally! If you're wondering about the gesture I'm rather rudely making, it's 'cos I'd just lost two games to my mate John, who is taking the picture... If you're wondering why I'm wearing shades inside, it's so I look like a bad ass! LOL!

I'll pictorially catalogue the wonderful selection of Sega arcade games on each successive visit I make. Oh well, I'll sign out and wish you a fond farewell! Oh, and in a bit of Wii news, I'm now online on my Wii and have just downloaded the Megadrive classic Comix Zone on the Virtual Console... But I'll need to chat about that over at 'the other place...' Good Night!

Everyone's a Winner Baby!

So sang cheesey 70's disco band Hot Chocolate. Whilst that may not be strictly true, there is a winner in the house and by Crikey! It's me! Your very own Father Krishna!

You may recall a recent post on the ever wonderful Racketboy and his Third Anniversary. He ran a competition to advertise his site on your site. So I did one, from the heart! I love Racketboy and his Retro Gaming site.

I was quite happy to draw attention to his place, 'cos it rocks! However, it so happens that my particular article was the best, so I've won the competition!!!!

I get the Mr. Robot title from its developers! I'll be posting a review of it here, even though its not a Saturn title. (That's fair enough isn't it?)

Father Krishna's Wii On The Way...

With only 22 days till "Wii Day", Father Krishna's almost top secret 40th birthday (May 16th 2007 - No, please, I don't want a fuss...) it was with some surprise and a great deal of disappointment, that I discovered Wii's were still widely unavailable in the UK! Look here...

The whole Krishna clan, myself, Mrs. K and the Three Gingers all trooped down to Gamestation, with our pre-order deposit money and eyes full of hope and excitement (all except Mrs. K who was scowling at the thought of another console coming into the house...).

Yet the staff were grimly pessimistic about the chance of getting one in for "Wii day". They explained the frankly bizarre situation that they never knew when Nintendo were going to send them new stock.

On returning home with crushed souls, and then checking out the internet, it seemed like most high street retailers were in the same boat, and there were no Wii packages available for purchase under £300!

So a rapid excursion onto ebay saw me scoring the following package for slightly over the odds, but not rediculously. I'm not the most patient man in the world, some might say an impulsive, nay, compulsive purchaser.

Hell no! With two new purchases this very evening, my love for the Saturn burns strong.

First of all there's BLAM! Machinehead - "an insane combination of shoot 'em up, action, strategic objectives and B-Movie melodrama" (?)

Next there's the more straight forward Athlete Kings a nice sports sim from Sega Sports.

So the countdown continues and the excitement rises! And remember folks:
